Tart Cherry Pie

  • Crust
  • 1 ¼ cups of graham cracker crumbs
  • ¼ cup sugar
  • 6 Tbsps. butter
  • OR: 1 storebought 9-inch graham cracker crust
  • Filling
  • 1 can (21 oz.) tart cherry pie filling
  • OR: if using frozen tart cherries, thicken with cornstarch and add almond extract
  • Meringue
  • 3 egg whites
  • 6 Tbsps. sugar
  • ½ tsp vanilla
  • ¼ tsp cream tartar


Combine graham cracker crumbs, sugar, and butter. Mold into a pie dish.  

If using a storebought pie crust, place pie crust into a pie dish.  

Preheat the oven to 400°F

Bake the crust by itself for 5 minutes then add the tart cherry pie filling and bake the whole pie for 25 minutes.   

Remove pie from oven. Beat together egg whites, sugar, vanilla, and cream tartar.

Top pie with meringue. Torch the meringue once it is on the pie.
